Parking: Abbeystead, at road junction on east side of Stoops Bridge.
Easy walking no steep gradients. Just under 1 mile on motor roads. Beautiful views and typical Bowland scenery within the Duke of Westminster's vast estate. Abbeystead Hall, though Elizabethan in style was built in 1886 by the Earl of Sefton. It is used as a summer residence by the Duke and his family. Tarnbrook is a tiny hamlet which was once a Quaker village renowned for the manufacture of rabbitskin and moleskin hats. The moors above provide the best grouse shooting in the whole of England.
